Beautiful Decay | A Fine Art Nude Series in an Abandoned Mansion
A few years ago, I spent a day inside an abandoned mansion with a fine art model and a camera. No agenda, no shot list. We just wandered through the house, noticing where the light fell and letting each room tell us what it wanted. Peeling paint, broken windows, floors that have seen better decades, and somehow it we found so much to say with just the light, artful posing and collaboration with one another.
Then life got busy, as it does, and these photos sat in a folder, waiting for me to make the time to share them properly. Every fall I thought about it, and every fall something else came first. Fall is such a busy time in the Northern Virginia Boudoir Studio and this year, I carved out the time. There’s no better season for an old empty house than the week of Halloween, when a place like this feels a little haunted and a lot beautiful.
So here they are, finally. This is Beautiful Decay, and it’s some of my favorites!
