"Do It Scared": One Client's Boudoir Journey From Self-Doubt to Obsessed
A real story about finding your voice, coming home to your body, and why you don't need confidence to walk through the door.
There's a moment I witness in almost every session, usually somewhere between the second outfit change and the final looks in the mirror, where something shifts. A woman who walked in nervous and unsure starts to see herself differently.
That's the whole point.
I recently received a review from a client that stopped me in my tracks. Not because it was flattering (though it was, and I'm grateful!), but because she put into words something I've been trying to describe for years. I'm sharing it here, with her blessing, because if you've been on the fence about booking your own boudoir experience in the Washington DC/Northern Virginia area, her words might be exactly what you need to hear.
She Rated It a 10/10 — But That's Not Even the Best Part
"I've been on a journey of finding my voice and confidence and this experience has helped with that more than I expected. I've spent a lot of my life not feeling fully at home in my body, but Julie made me feel seen, beautiful, and comfortable the entire time. Seeing my photos after? Still obsessed. I have curves haha. I got to see myself as soft, feminine, and confident all at once. That feeling has stayed with me."
I have curves. I have curves. Said with joy, with humor, with ownership.
So many women who come to me have spent years feeling like their body was something to manage, hide, or apologize for. In the span of one session, they get to see themselves through a completely different lens. Soft and powerful. Feminine and confident. It really does feel a little bit like magic that happens in this process!
That feeling doesn't stay in the studio. It follows you home.
You Don't Need to Feel Confident to Book a Boudoir Session
"Do it scared. You don't need to feel confident walking in. Both Julie and her hair/makeup artist create that space for you. Julie will guide you through everything and makes you feel comfortable the entire time."
Do it scared.
Gaining that confidence is often the result of the experience, not the requirement for it. Waiting until you feel ready is usually just… well… waiting. My job is to create an environment where you feel taken care of from the moment you arrive. You don't need to know how to pose. You just have to show up!
I'll handle the rest.
If You've Had This Tab Open for a While, This Is for You
If you've been waiting until you lose weight, feel more confident, or until the timing feels right, I say this to you: the timing is rarely going to feel perfect. The version of you that exists right now deserves to be seen and celebrated. Every session starts with a consultation call, and that's exactly where we'll figure out the rest together. If you're in the Washington DC or Northern Virginia area and you've been thinking about this, I'd love to hear from you.
You don't have to feel ready. You just have to reach out. :)
