I feel more aware of Self-Acceptance | Northern Virginia Boudoir Photography

Self acceptance, in my opinion, is something that I think may be on the same level if not, more than self love. We hear the term “self love” thrown around a lot and I think somewhere along the way, it’s a lost a bit of meaning. Now don’t get me wrong, self love is important, but self acceptance just hits different. I feel like it goes a bit deeper. In order to embrace you, the whole you, there needs to be an acceptance. I mean, if you don’t accept you, how do you love yourself?

A boudoir shoot in our Washington DC boudoir studio is definitely steps in the right direction when it comes your journey of self love and acceptance.

When Ms. F had her session, I remember her feeling apprehensive and nervous just like all my clients do, and about midway through the shoot, I could see her get a bit more comfortable and by the end, she was walking out of the studio way taller, makeup and hair still in tact, ready to take on whatever came her way. That’s the feeling I love seeing my clients take with them when they leave the studio. Best feeling in the world!

In her own words:

How would you rate your boudoir experience on a scale of 1-10?: ABSOLUTE 10! If I can give 100, I would!

How has your boudoir experience affected you or changed you?: I feel more aware of Self-Acceptance. Just be me and celebrate being me every single day.
I guess I discovered a different side of myself during the photoshoot, that it is okay to step out of your comfort zone, be vulnerable and embrace your feminine energy (oh yes, I went totally nekid and it felt so FREE)

What advice would you give someone who was nervous about or hesitant to book their own boudoir experience with me? : Use that nerve and get out there! You will be surprised on what you can do and how GREAT you will look.
And, Julie is AMAZING, she has this warmth about her, it feels like you are just having a fun and creative girls day out together. I completely forgot that it was a photoshoot session after my first shot.

Is there anything at all you would change about your boudoir experience?: NOPE! I would do it again and again in a heartbeat. I love that Julie and I can explore art and creativity through lens together.

I learned to appreciate my body | Virginia Boudoir Photography

How would you rate your boudoir experience on a scale of 1-10?: 20!

How has your boudoir experience affected you or changed you?: My overall experience was beyond amazing. Not only with photos and taking the pictures, but honestly even working with Julie. She’s literally my spirit animal. I definitely feel more confident and love my body and myself even more. I look at my favorite pictures almost everyday and it brings me empowerment!

What advice would you give someone who was nervous about or hesitant to book their own boudoir experience with me? : Just do it. It’s the most self fun thing I’ve ever done, and Julie makes the experience even greater. I would’ve never even thought of doing a boudoir session until I found Julie’s page on instagram. The way she portrays self love is beyond amazing and she’s truly very talented. Not only will you have the most memorable time ever, but you’ll also gain a new friend! She makes you feel so comfortable during your session and the whole process just feels like you’re with one of your best friends having the greatest time of your life. It’ is my most favorite memories I’ll ever have for myself.

Is there anything at all you would change about your boudoir experience?: No, nothing at all. I just want to say, this year has been the year I’ve truly focused on myself and only myself. I’ve learned how to appreciate my body in ways I never did before. Our bodies go through so many changes — it’s always telling us when something is off or not right and when you do what it asks, it’ll always leave you feeling amazing (even when you eat a whole pie of pizza because your stomach wanted it!) But really, we all go through changes, from age, to carrying apart of us and someone we love (babies!), to healthy life changes — anything. Just appreciate your body, the way it is, the way it comes. If you listen close enough, it’ll always tell you how you’re truly feeling.

Capturing what she felt on the inside | Virginia Boudoir

What inspired you to do a boudoir session?: I wanted help capturing what I saw and felt within myself.

What made you decide to schedule your session with Julie?: After meeting her it felt like a friend. I trusted her with myself and with just having fun. The experience is to have fun and feel good. I felt after meeting with her that this is what I was going to get. A friend helping me capture and feel how I should.

What was your biggest fear in doing a boudoir session? Did it come true? What happened instead?: Not capturing what I wanted. No, we captured more then I could come up with. We got amazing photos and was not just photos we created a memory.

What was your favorite part of your boudoir session?: Just how care free and fun we had. It wasn't just me on display is was us just talking and having a good time while taking photos, regardless of what I was wearing.

If you were to recommend us to your best friend, what would you say?: Trust and have fun. Do not get in your head. Literally you have nothing to worry about. The work is done for you.
